They claim that a honey testing center is needed to avoid sales of low-quality and fake honey in the province.
Mahbobullah Safari, In-charge of Afghan-Tajik Beekeeping Cooperative in Badakhshan says that some opportunists misuse the fame of Badakhshan’s honey by selling fake honey in the markets and it has badly affected their work.
He states that creating a honey testing center or an office for recording trademarks are some of the solutions to identify real and fake honey.
In the meantime, Sayed Moenuddin Ayni, Head of Agriculture Department in Badakhshan also declares that interest in beekeeping has surged in the province and their department is ready to find markets and pave the grounds for improvement of beekeepers’ products.
Badakhshan, with its lush valleys and vegetation, is a suitable bed for beekeeping, and it is said that honey produced in this province has a unique quality and this has led to a good reputation in the market.
